I was reading an article on Frontier Strategic Group, a think thank and research website and came across a blog by Anna Rosenberg on Ethiopia. The title is After Prime Minister Meles Zenawi's Death- What's Next for Business in Ethiopia and the blogsphere link is http://blog.frontierstrategygroup.com/2012/09/after-prime-minister-meles-zenawis-death-whats-next-for-business-in-ethiopia/
As an expert in the field of working with MNCs, I refuse to accept the claim that Meles attracted MNCs through a personal relationship and resolved disputes on personal level. It is as well preposterous to advise a big Multinational that structures on research and strategic study to heed to a hunch.
He met with Chinese businessman during China-Africa submit with major industry players and associations that has a command to convince chinese delegates. Can anyone name an MNC that invested in Ethiopia through Meles' personal persuasion. I doubt it was an MNC.
Yes, Ethiopia is an attractive market to MNC. However, they work with institutions such as Ethiopian Investment, Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Trade and Minsitry of Industry instead of rushing to crowd the next Prime Minister Office in building personal relationships.
